Media embeded in IE

Whenever I try to run webbased content IE/WMP crashes. I have tried to
download the *.asx files, and that doesn't help. Also I have tried stoping
websites from opening the content and then copying the url that goes to the
video (for example www.microsoft.com/tutorial.wmv) and telling WMP to open it
as a URL and WMP crashes.

I have third party video players that can run the URLs, but it is really
frustrating that all webbased content crashes IE because of some mess-up with
WMP.

Try reinstalling WMP.

I would if I could. But I can't find anything to uninstall it. Being a
Microsoft program they hide (or atleast seem to have done on my pc) the
uninstall options. It isn't in Add/Remove Programs or Windows Components. It
is a really frustrating problem.

Try going to Start | Run and type:

regsvr32.exe wmpdxm.dll

See if that fixes it.

Looks like there's no easy way to reinstall it. You might try checking the
WMP newsgroups.
