mdac components

I recently had to reinstall some of my xp hotfixes and while downloading the ones I needed I came across mdac 2.8. I foolishly thought the newer version would be better so I installed it. However instead of downloading it to my computer and then making sure none of the existing mdac files were not in use, I installed it while on line. now I cannot use programs which use any of mdac, because I now have a mixture of version 2.7 sp1 and 2.8. Can anyone help me to revert back to version 2.7, or make it so 2.8 works?

Hi Harlund,

Try d/loading 2.8 to hard drive via this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-
b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en

Then you can ensure that no MDAC files are in use when you opt to install
it.

I did download version 2.8 to my desktop and then closed all programs and then installed. I still get a message when I try to run Sisoft Sandra telling me to "could not initialize database", install latest mdac. I ran component checker again and I still get mismatched files between 2.8 and 2.7m and mismatched registry entries

I got the same error message from SiSoft SANDRA until I upgraded to Sandra
Professionsal 2004 (Win32/CE)SP1.

By the looks of the instructions, you would go to Start>Run and they key in
(or copy/paste from here directly into the "Open" field:
mdac_typ.exe /C:"dasetup /u"
<ENTER>

Or, you might instead want to follow Jerry's advice and upgrade SiSoft
Sandra.
