MCAFEE INSTALLATION SETUP

I have yesterday purchased McAfee Internet Security Suite 7.0 2005.

I am attempting to install it. First attempted 2x yesterday, reattempted it
this morning.

It gets as far as this first screen after I'm telling it to install McAfee:


McAfee Installation Setup

Please wait while the installation process checks for and uninstalls older
product versions.

The installation process is automatically checking for and uninstalling
older product versions that may be in conflict with McAfee Internet Security
Suite 7.0 components.

You may require a restart of your computer to complete the installation and
configuration.

<Restart>


Last night's 2nd attempt ran overnight, was still stuck on this first
screen.

Exactly how long is it supposed to be on this first screen? How long is too
long before it is obviously stuck / hanged (hung)? I have a Pentium III, 866
MHZ, 1 GB RAM, WIN2K.

Any idea what could cause it to hang on this first screen?

Please advise.

Do you have any other virus scan products installed on your compter?If you
do it would be wise to uninstall them 1st then try again.RH710

no other antivirus or internet security programs running

I do have anti-adware and anti-spyware programs - do these need to go as
well?

no other anti virus program running

did have anti adware & spyware, got rid of those, rebooted. on reboot,
McAfee asked me if I'm doing a full or custom install, I said full, then it
went back into checking for older product versions. taking forever, still
stuck on that screen.
