McAfee error

I have recently started getting a McAfee error on start up and periodically
during use that reads... McAfee network agent has encountered a problem and
needs to close. This is in a "Please tell Microsoft" alert box. The error is
something to do with McNASvc.exe.mdmp and there is a "appcompat.txt" file
listed (which I do not know how to access). Has anyone had this problem? I
have WIndows XP Home version with service pack 2 which I've had for some
time. Any ideas?

Add/Remove will NOT get McAfee products off your system completely. Believe
me, I speak from experience. Avast (I also have currently) or any other
security products will NOT install clean if you don't do the following.
First go to http://ts.mcafeehelp.com, click on Tech Support band and select
your products to get the uninstall directions/removal tools. Print them out.
Uninstall SK, PS, VS & FW in that order. Be sure you turn each product OFF
before beginning the uninstall process for the product. Remove each product
first via Add/Remove. Then run the Removal Tools to get the orphans out of
your registry. Follow all additional removal steps, even if you get "file
not found" because you have tried to unistall incorrectly. The procedures
worked for me GREAT for all four products. Then do a Windows search on
keyword McAfee & delete any files/folders relating to McAfee on your hard
drive. Uninstall Security Center Software last via Add/Remove after the four
products are gone.

If you follow the McAFee instructions to the letter, you should have no
problems uninstalling McAfee or then installing Avast. Hope this helps. If
not, I never had problems getting additional help at the McAfee forums. The
Avast forums are also very responsive to user pleas for help, should you
encounter problems installing Avast. Hope this helps.

Please disragard my last post. I carelessly replied to the wrong thread
having McAfee difficulties. My bad.
