I have disabled Messenger 4.7 but not removed it as I
still want to use Remote Assistance with MSN messenger
6.1. Hoever msmsgs.exe still loads when I switch on my
computer. I know it is related to McAfee Ver 8 as when
this is disabled it doesn't load. McAfee has a box in
the settings in messnenger that CANNOT be disabled (and
McAfee say this is meant as a feature NOT to be able to
diasable it) but this then causes conflicts between
Windows and MSN Messengers. Does anyone know of a way to
STOP MCAfee running MSMSGS.EXE ? If I end the process
msmsgs.exe after both are loaded, then quit messenger and
restart it- for some reason it doesn't seem to reload it
yet if I disable MSN Messenger on windows startup and
then load it manually it opens msmsgs.exe as well
(obviously only with mcafee running as it is disabled
from normal use). This is driving me nuts and there must
be a work around - answer should come from Mcafee I know
(this isn't what it was meant to do I'm sure) - it should
protect only the messenger you want to use. Another
solution would be for Microsoft to enable Remote
assistance with MSN Messenger without the use of
msmsgs.exe so that Windows Messenger couyld be completely
removed !
