Maximum number of files on one folder

A

Alistair Fay

I am looking to see if Windows 2000 Server has a limit on
the number of files that can exhist in one folder before
corruption occurs.

My company is looking to archive images and we intend to
archive around 55,000 of these files to a folder and write
to DVD.

Are there any implications with this amount of files and
should they be split into more subfolders.

No limits. Just don't put the files on the root of the drive and you'll be
fine.
