Maximum number of files in folder?

What is the maximum number of files that can be held in a folder with
windows XP? I have a folder that has 226 files in it and was wondering if I
am reaching its limit?

depends. on fat32 it's 32,000 to 64,000 odd, NTFS it's zillions
