Master Volume bar on screen

Suddenly a green text Master Volume and a bar appeared on my screen and stays
on top of everything I do. The bar responds to the volume control. I can't
find a way to get rid of this. I use Windows XP Professional.

My Computer, Performance and Maintanence> Computer Management> Event

Hi Michael,
Thanks for giving a thought to this.
I went to the Event Viewer, but that gave no clues. In fact, no events are
recorded (in any of the three categories) between 9.30 when I started my
computer and 11.30 when I rebooted it because of this flickering Master
Volume sign problem.
Regards,
Teemu
