Master Formatting of Imported Text

I have created a Slide and a Title Master for my PP Pesentation. I would like
to import text from Microsoft Word (import word files) and have that text
utilize the formatting established in my Masters (font size, style, color,
etc.) Is this possible?

When I use traditional importing methods my text imports into the
appropriate placeholders but does not use my Master formatting.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you send to powerpoint from a word outline view (with titles at level one
and bullets at level two) and then apply the master it should work

Thank you John,

Your suggestion helped quite a bit, however, I'm still having a few minor
problems with certain formatting attributes.

So, for example, my PP Template has Header 1 attributes of: Arial, Bold, 30
pt., centered. The original .rtf file imported into PP contains Header 1
attributes of: Arial Italic 16 pt, justified right. Instead of taking on the
full set of PP Template attributes I get: Arial, Italic, 30pt., justified
right.

It seems like my PowerPoint template gets half way there but can't overcome
some of the attributes in the original word (.rtf) document.

Any suggestions?

All the best,
