Making me crazy

How can i get rid of adware gator advertising apps in my system? i was told
they r embedded in the registry. Have gone to gator.com n they have changed
their name and operation. the pop ups are driving me nuts

I think it was spybot cleared my son's computer, which was RIDDLED
with mentions of gator
