Making index.htm my home page

I create a new one page web site. I import a file and
insert it in index.htm so that it is my home page. I add
additional pages. I do some linking. Everything is saved
and I preview in browser. (It has taken me a long, long,
time to get this far.) Everything seems to look OK and
work OK except index.htm. It doesn't display in IE, it
displays in Documents and Settings. Everything else
displays in IE. Shouldn't index.htm display in IE like
everything else? What am I doing wrong?

What do you mean by "import a file and insert in index.htm"? Please
describe those steps - index.htm may no longer be a valid document.
