Making a hard drive removable

I recently bought a removable hard drive drawer and hard
drives to do backups. The drawer box says you can make
the hard drives hot-swappable if you set them up as
removable media on windows. I don't know how to switch
them to removable media. They are currently just set up
as normal hard drives, and I have to turn off the
computer to switch them. I can't figure out how to make
them removable on windows.

I believe that your IDE controller must also support hot-swapping. I know there
are a few RAID controllers which support hot-swapping but I am not aware of too
many built IDE controllers which support this feature.
