How to make windows recognize my hard drive as "removable"

Hi.

I just received a hard drive drawer bay, so I can hotswap
non-boot hard drives. However, when I remove the drive in
Windows XP to put in another one, it doesn't recognize
that I removed the drive, and inserted the new one. How
can I make windows recognize the drives connected into my
bay as removable?

No. It only came with the hardware.

Is there a way I can tell windows "Hey, this hard drive is
removable."?

Zach, if it's just basically a Container for the hard drive then No,
WinXP will always see it as a fixed drive. If you have a
SATA Drive I think you can hotswap those.

Read this: Programming of Transfer Mode Speed Is Not Supported by Atapi.sys When You Hot or Warm Swap Drives http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323760 HTH. I totally turn off (switch on back) my machine, swap the drive, then power on and boot.
