Make Files Retain View?

C

CWLee

I have just purchased a small laptop which came with Windows
XP Home edition installed. It seems to work fine, but there
are a few small items I need some help with.

I prefer for all my files to display in what is called the
"details" view or mode. I can change each folder, but the
next time I open it the files have reverted to the "tiles"
view or mode.

I have gone Start > Settings > Control Panel > Folder
Options > View and then checked "Remember each folder's view
settings" but that doesn't seem to work.

Ideas?

Thanks.

CWLee:

Set up a folder the way you like. In that folder, go to tools, folder
options, view tab. Click Apply to all folders.

In addition, these changes often only hold if there is *only one* Explorer
window open. Close them all, open one, make the changes, close it. On
re-opening Explorer, the views should hold.
