Major MS Anti- Spy problems. Please help

When I tried to access MS Anti- Spy tonight, it failed to
run. I received this messege:

"Warning: Microsoft AntiSpyware has encountered a critical
error (Error 101). Please restart Windows AntiSpyware and
run the program again. If you continue to experience this
problem, please uninstall the program and install the most
recent version of Windows AntiSpyware. You can use Add or
Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall this version
of Windows AntiSpyware."

However, when I try to uninstall, I receive this error
messege: "The Windows Installer Service could not be
accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe
mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

What on earth is going on???? I have no clue what is wrong
or how to fix it.

Hi LadyE;
Instead of an uninstall, try a repair:

Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/
highlight the Microsoft AntiSpyware line
then click the underlined "Click here for support information"
then click the Repair button.

Please reply back to let us know how this worked for you. At least two
people have reported success using this fix.
