mailing list to several contacts individually

hope i can explain this properly.
i want to send an email with an attachment to several recipients but want
the message to be addressed personally to each individual without other
addresses being visible to each other. bcc option is not ideal as their own
address is not shown in 'to' field. is there a way to do this? i'm using
outlook 2003.

you could use mail merge but need to use either an addin or VBA to add
attachments to mail merges.

Couldn't one embed the "attachment" in a Word document as an object and then
use that document for the mail merge?
