Mail Rules

My OS is Vista and I am also using Windows Mail. When I open rules in Tools,
and go to mail rules, I do not have an option to move certain e-mails to
designated folders. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help you can
provide.

Some actions do not allow otheroptions such as Do not download from server
or delete from server.

Post the rule you are haing trouble with. No need to post the data, just the
Conditions and Actions.

Are you sure you're on the Mail tab for Rules and not the News tab?
Move to specified folder should be the first option under Action.

Frank,

Yes the first Action available is to move the designated e-mail to another
location. But the issue I am having is how the e-mail gets selected. In
Outlook I would click on an unwanted e-mail, go to rules, and that addressee
would already be selected. I merely then selected the action I wanted to
take. Now I click on the e-mail on which I want to create a rule, drill down
through Tools, Message Rules, Mail, New (on the Mail Rules tab). I must now
choose from the listed items to select what I want to apply the rule to. If
I pick, for example, "Where From Line Containes People", I must select
someone from my contacts. There are no selections for selecting the e-mail I
selected in the beginning of the process. That's my problem. Tx. BJW>

You can do the same in WinMail:
Message > Create Rule from Message...
