mail notification on sign-on screen

C

Chris Cowles

I have XP Pro and MSN 9 Premium. I have multiple user accounts set up on my
workstation at home, mainly to keep my kids from breaking it. A guest logged
into my personal account also logged into MSN using their own MSN account
user ID. Now I get new email notices at the signon screen for my personal
account, indicating there are emails waiting for that guest's MSN account.

How do I disassociate my XP user ID from that MSN user ID?

TIA

Unread Mail can be disabled via the Registry - navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\UnreadMail\[Your emailaddress], double click
on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).

Hi Chris,

Clear his Passport:

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2. Advanced/Manage
Passwords/Remove.

Add Control Userpasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

To remove an account or to change the count manually Go to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.
