mail disappears from inbox

,I use Microsoft Office Outlook. After retrieving and viewing my inbox the
mail (after a short time) disappears and I am unable to find it. Why? And
what can I do to prevent this? I have checked everthing I can think of? I
have three different email accounts setup through the same computer. One is
through an exchange server, two are not but I receive the same occurance with
all three. Any suggestions on how to retain the mail until I manually delete
or move it? Thanks.

Check your preview pane options for marking items read and also your view to
ensure it is not set to "unread messages."

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

Also make sure that your email is not on an IMAP server, as this can really
screw up things if not configured correctly. If it is an IMAP server you are
trying to connect to, I use a rule stating that all new mail is to go to the
inbox, and mark it as unread.
