Lsass.exe cpu load?

On my newly installed Windows XP Pro, SP2 with 2 GB of memory and an AMD
Athlon 4200+ dual core processor, lsass.exe takes up 50% of the CPU (100% of
one core) for a few minutes after logging in.
The machine is in a home network, not part of a domain.
I had this problem earlier, but had Windows Server 2003 on my previous
desktop and had not seen it there.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem.
I have an Intel Pentium 2.4 GHz proc. System has been running fine for 2
years. I have SP2.

When I shutdown my ZoneAlarm FW lsass.exe cools down. Re-installed
ZoneAlarm. Didn't help.
The same goes for e.Trust antivirus.

Tried multiple virus scanners and malware-detectors (incl. HiJack) but
everything seems ok.
My lsass is "C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe"

Please help

Anyone from Microsoft? When searching the Internet, it is clear I am not the
only one with lsass.exe problems.

This is a new install of XP Sp2, with Microsoft Antispiware and with Norton
Antivirus. I do not believe this is a virus or other threat, it is something
in lsass.exe going wrong. Please help.
