T

tnllewis

My son hasn't used his computer in months and has
forgotten his Password. I am now "inheriting" the
computer and can't get past the password log-on. It's a
windows XP Professional program (copyright date on the
screen is 1985-2001. Oh, I have no disk or documentation.
If you can help, please e-mail me at (e-mail address removed).
Thanks
Terry

Hi

If that doesn't work out, you might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

This is where the reserve, emergency account called Administrator comes
in. Boot, hitting F8 as BIOS info goes to black; take Safe Mode, There
will then be an icon for Administrator on the Welcome screen. (If not,
hit CTL-ALT-DEL twice and enter the explicit name
Administrator
and leave the password blank: if he set one for Administrator at
installation and has forgotten that then there is serious trouble)

In that, Start - Run the line
control userpasswords2
where you can select any account name and Reset Password
