Lost most of my Start - Programs list.

For some reason I lost most of the Program Shortcuts under Start -
Programs. I had 4 columns of program folders and files filling the
monitor screen. Now I only have one column with a couple of dozen
folders and 7 files (resolution 1024 x 768).
Any clue as to how they were lost?

See if this applies:

You may have set the Start Menu to scroll for programs. To check if this
feature is on or off:

Control Panel (Classic View) > Taskbar and Start Menu > Start Menu tab >
Start Menu customize button > Advance tab > Scroll Programs (ensure this
option is unchecked).

Thanks for responding.
I checked the Control Panel. The 'Scroll Programs' was not checked. I
was not able to scroll the 1 column that was left before your message. I
then checked the 'Scroll Program' box and then tried to scroll the one
column and it did not scroll. Apparently, the 1 column that is showing
is all that there is.
