Lost Internet Connectivity

Here is my configuration:

P3 Compaq laptop - W2k pro w/ SP4
Mac iBook G3 - OS X 10.3.8

Connected via LinkSys router to DSL modem (high speed)

I suddenly lost connectivity (web chat, browsers, Outlook, etc.) early this
a.m. on the Compaq laptop.

The Mac still connects to the internet using either Ethernet cable.

I verified the following:
- the Router, Ethernet cable and nic in the Compaq laptop are fine.

When I share the Mac's hard drive, I can connect to it from the PC. In
fact, I backed up (transferred) about 2 Gb of data from the PC to the Mac. I
don't understand it.

I can't connect to the internet from the PC via the nic or using dial-up
networking.

I re-installed W2K sp4. It made no difference.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add a couple details. I have not changed any settings recently.

I have the following antivirus, firewall, anti popup and anti spyware
programs installed.

McAfee Virusscan 9
McAfee Personallfirewall plus 6

Alexa Toolbar

Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05 (run manually)
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1
SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.3 (run manually)
SpywareBlaster 3.2

They have all been there for a while.

Thank you very much Robert.

I was able to ping 4.2.2.1 and yahoo.com. I followed the troubleshooting
steps at howtonetworking.com. I downloaded winsockfix on another PC. It
fixed the problem.

Have a great day.
