Lost File Associations - can't open anything

Ad-ware SE Plus, or its adwatch detected a problem with my system registry. I
guess I must have clicked the wrong button, by now I can only access few
shortcuts - w/ a prompt that states that an in particular file does not have
a program associated with it. I can't use help and support, open executables,
add or remove programs in the CP, etc. Please help to at least get me back
where I can open executables. I plan to upgrade to XP Pro, but I can't run
certain chipset identity utilities that I need to use prior to this due to my
problem. Thank you!

Thank you Ricky, I tried, but I can't even double click on the xp exe reg
file to execute it. I get the same file association error as before. I made
sure to download the correct file to fix specifically exe reg problems, but
after extraction into a default folder, doubling clicking produces the same
error.

Merge opens a window with "run" as my only option, in which I get the same
association error. I can't even get into help and support to do a system
restore because the help doesn't even have an association.
