lost cd and dvd drive

I installed Pinnacle Liquid and lost my cd and dvd drives. Uninstalled
Pinnacle, no drives, drives show up in bios, Sisandra and Everest. But
in Device manager I have an error message that the registry is
corrupted. Ran a couple registry fixers, no drives. Did a repair
install (xp pro sp2). No drives.
Asrock 939 dual sata
AMD 3200
1 gig ram
120 WD ide
120 Seagate ide
Aopen cd 2nd slave
Lite-On DVD 2nd master
no sata or firewire

Have read that this happens sometimes in xp but havnt found a fix yet.
Any help or suggestions?? Thanks much
