Lost Administrator's Account

David

When I boot, my computer use to open Administrator's
account, I did not have a password. When system is
locked, it shows me icons for two accounts to open,
Administrator and David. Administrators account has all
my profile, i.e. desktop, favorites, etc. Now something
happened and when I boot the system shows me the screen
like after the system is locked with only one icon
account to open: David. I cannot force my pc to open the
Administrator's account, so I lost my profile, even
though I see all this stuff on my C drive. What can I do
to log as Administrator and regain my profile. How can I
get a screen that will ask me for a log ID?
Thanks,
David.

Hi David,

Once you add another Admin account the System Admin account becomes hidden.
Either you did this or installed the update to Net Framework which added
another user for you, thus complicating auto logon. Hard to tell from your
post.

To correct either/or:

1. Press Control/Alt/Delete Twice for Pro and Boot into safe mode and login
for Home.

TweakUI/Logon/Show Administrator on the Welcome Screen

Or...

Enable/Disable Administrator on Welcome Screen (Line 5)

2. 1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

NOTE: You should not be running off of or out of your System Admin account.
