Lost Address Book :(

Hello everybody,

I am using Office XP on windows 2000 Adv Server & recently i formatted my
whole server.
Took backup of my outlook.pst but forgot to backup my addressbook
now when i replaced my backup in new system i am not able to access my
addressbook. whenever i tried to click on To: button on a new message it
says :

The address list could not be displayed. The contact folder associated with
this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or
you do not have permissions. For more info to how to remove this folder from
Outlook Address Book, see microsoft Outlook Help.

I even tried making a nerw address book but again its giving some error.

Please suggest me something what to do how to use my current contact folder
as my Address Book ..

I can see Outlook Address Book in View or change existing directories
or address books option.
I tried doing right click on Contact Folder & checking option "show
this folder as an e-mail Address Book" but still its showing the
same error while i click on To: or CC: button while creating a new
message.

Previously it used ot open my Addres Book so that i can select
address from their to send mails.

what to do now??

Why?

Hello Kaustubh,

you will get this message, because you "backup your outlook.pst file" so the
Link from the Adressbook to the original Contact folder is no more
available.

The best solution will be to delete the Outlook Adressbook and add it again.
So all demaged Links will be deleted.

I don´t know the real discription from the path where you will find "Outlook
Adressbook/delete" because my Outlook (2000) is in german language but in
Outlook 2002 i think it must be somewhere under "Tools/Email
accounts/Listings(?)" or "File/Datafilemanagement/Listings(?)".

After you delete and add the Outlook Adressbook you have to go again on the
contact folder right Mouseclick/options/Outlook Addresbook, select:
"Use thisfolder as Outlook Adresbook".

After delete from the Adressbook, all demage Links must be deleted.

Another solution is:

Tools/Adressbook/Tools/Options, here on the Top you can select the "default"
contact folders. Change this settings.

but the best solution will be to delete the Outlook adressbook.

If everything does not work, you could maybe delete your complete Profile
and install a new profile with your "old PST", but i hope it works with the
further information i give you.
