Adding address books for e-mail

J

jpowell

Outlook 2007 - I'm trying to designate a Contacts folder as an Outlook
Address book.

The directions state:
"Go to the Properties dialogue box for the Contacts folder. On the Outlook
Address Book tab select the "show this folder as an e-mail addressbook" check
box.

The PROBLEM: the check box is not live. What am I missing? Jack

Did you add the Outlook Address Book Service to your profile? If so, how?

Russ, this is a brand new Inspiron 530S. I used the file and settings
transfer facility. I had the address books set up in the old computer to
perform the task that I now cannot do. I don't know how to check my
"profile". Help! Jack

Uh-oh. You must never use Windows Easy Transfer with Outlook. It doesn't
work. It creates a corrupt profile in which you cannot configure or repair
the Outlook Address Book Service.
You must first create a new Outlook profile from scratch:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;829918&Product=out2003

Only then will you be able to configure the Outlook Address Book Service:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287563&Product=ol2002

Russ,
The two links you sent took care of my problem! Thank you soooo much
for this. I would never have figured this out by myself. I am amazed that
of all of the stuff this files transfer facility works for, that they haven't
fixed this. Anyway, you made my day! Thanks again. Jack

You're welcome. I am embarrassed they haven't fixed this yet. I wish
Microsoft was.
