Lost access to My Documents on old hard drive

M

Mike Sanders

Hi:

I upgraded my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro
and hooked up the old drive as a secondary. My ID under
Documents and Settings on the old drive still has a My
Documents folder but gives me an "access denied" message
when I try to open it.

I am on a network and I am authenticated to the domain. I
fairly sure I was always authenticated to the domain on
the old hard drive. Same ID & PW now as before.

Is there a way to pry this open to recover my docs?

This article describes how to take ownership of a file or folder
to which you have been denied access:
