Is she using Windows or some third party utility? And if the latter,
which one?

is it truely losing the key, or simply asking for the key when it really
shouldn't? When it asks it ALWAYS shows dots where the key can be
entered, but you do not have to re-enter them, just click OK leaving the
dots there - it should still have the key. This is very misleading, I hate
it when it does that too! And of course touching any key wipes it out
(since the field is preselected) so then it _DOES_ lose the key - Pain
Pain Pain. Just click the OK.

Something that may help allieviate this, go into the list of wireless AP's
it knows about (wireless connection tray icon, properties, "wireless
networks" tab, "Preferred Networks" section) and move the most-used guys
to the top of the list; and delete any old leftovers you no longer need.
Set only your home/work/often-used guys to Automatic, make the rest
Manual.

Good Luck

Do the office and home wireless routers have the same WEP key? If not,
of course she'd have to re-enter the key, based on location. (If yes,
that's a security problem waiting to happen.)

Do the home and office wireless networks have the same SSID? If so, the
laptop won't be able to keep the information for the two networks
separate. They ought to have different SSIDs, but may not, especially
if out-of-the-box configuration data is used.
