Losing permissions of a file folder

Pat

I am losing the permissions on a file folder.

In order to access the information, I have to go to that
file folder, properities, security, advanced, and check the
box marked "Replace permission entries on all child
objects with entries shown here that apply to child
objects." I then can access my application.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks.

If you mean every time you use that application you have to change
permissions?... it may be a read only folder and you need to take ownership.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326549&Product=winxp
(326549) - You may experience any of the following symptoms: You cannot view
or change the Read-only or System attributes of a folder by using the
Properties dialog box for the folder.

If your account is not the owner, take ownership and change
permissions from the C:\drive... check the only casing for permissions
to apply to all folders.

Permissions applyed to the C:\drive will apply to all folders if you
check the only casing. (replace permission entries in all secundary objects
etc.)

If you are applying permissions to subfolders and check the top casing,
all permissions will be inherited from the main folder or drive to the one
you are modifying.

If you check both casings, all permissions from the main folder will be
inherited to that folder you are modifying and all the subfolders included
within that
one.
