Losing monitor power off setting

Anyone know why XP Pro SP1 seems to keep losing the timer setting for
powering off my monitor? I have it set to turn it off after 15 minutes of
inactivity. It works for a day maybe and then quits turning it off. I got
back into the power options and reset it to 15 minutes and it works again.
The power options setting don't change. It says 15 minutes when I go in to
reset it. It just quits working.

I have never met this problem...................
But I know sometimes we just can't find what we need.....

I have a very simmilar issue - not just with monitor but also HDD
spindown which is also forgotten. As you say the correct values remain
dislayed but are no longer applied even though they work for a few
days or even a week or so I know that sooner or later they will be
forgotton. I also find that saving a power profile works but when the
settings are forgotton the saved profile is no longer available to
re-load (although once again the correct values are still shown).

I have not found a fix.
