Losing internet access

I am having trouble with internet access. It occurs with ie, firefox, and
safari as well as with a stock market app which should be providing streaming
quotes. It does not seem to occur with Outlook which can download my email
OK.

I'm using XP Pro SP3.

When I bootup it works OK but after maybe 10 minutes my streaming quotes
stop and browser tabs just sit there as if they are refreshing themselves for
ever.

This is not a case of no internet access. I can open a webpage just fine.
The problem seems to be limited to websites with auto refresh. I often use
site which have a 5 min auto refresh. After I open them eventually the auto
refresh stops working and the refresh indicators on ie, firefox, or safari
just keep spinning.

Any clues would be much appreciated.
