I have dsl Which means i am always online. Well, i have been "losing" my
connection . This should not happen. I cannot view any websites, aim doesn
ot work. Thiss sometimes happens when i am working online, or if i walk away
for as little as 5 minutes. I have made sure that there is no dial up
connection.
I alos don't use aol as my provider. I acutally use Earthlink, bu tearth
link is not having problems, so i know it is my computer. i esp. know this
because there are 2 other computers using earthlink dsl in my home. I know
it is my computer.
again, any helpis appreciated.
I always have to shut down or restart my compute to get the connection back.
I have tried just reloading the page and just pinging my isp to get it back,
but it does not work. It is a real pain having to shut down all the time.
I use IE and Moxilla Firefox, and the problem happens in both.
Someone suggested i do this, but it didn't work:
The next time this problem occurs, go to Start, Run, type in without the
quotes "cmd", in the command prompt window that comes up, type in (again
without quotes) "ipconfig /release". When it's done type in without quotes
"ipconfig /renew". closet the command window and open IE and see if the page
loads.
i was also suggested to take the hardware off of power save so my computer
doesn't try to shut off the dsl box to save power.....that also didn't help.
I use a linksys home portal box (if that helps)
