Losing Icons in Word 2003 Toolbar

G

GM

Hello,

When I add an icon to the toolbar using "Tools-->Customise-->Toolbars"
in Word 2003, it always disappears when I close and re-open Word. For
example, I add an icon for "Strikethrough" and can use it during the
current session but it is not there when I use Word the next time
after closing it.

Thanks for any help.

Whenever you make changes to a toolbar, you need to be aware of the context
you are customizing-

Do you make sure that Normal.dot is selected in the "Save in" list in the
Customize dialog box? Note that the changes will be applied to whatever is
selected in the "Save in" list (can be the active document, Normal.dot, the
attached template or a currently loaded add-in).

If you make the changes to Normal.dot, you can save Normal.dot immediately
after you have made the changes: press and hold the Shift key while you
select File > Save All. If a dialog box opens, asking whether to save changes
to Normal.dot, click Yes.

Note that if you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed, this could prevent
Normal.dot from being saved even if you made changes to it. See:
