Lose Wireless Connection

T

TJ

Am running a Win2K SP4 Laptop with a Netgear WPNT511 Wireless Adapter
connecting to a Netgear WPNT834 Router. When I connect the 2K machine via
Ethernet, I never lose the Network connection to my Mapped Network Drives.
When I go Wireless, in a short period of time I lose the connection to my
Mapped Network Drives and they show the big Red X. When I try to
reconnect, I get the message the connection could not be restored because
the Drive name is already in use. I usually have to disable the wireless
connection and reenable it. Trying IPConfig /Release and then /Renew does
not restore the connection.

Can someone point me in the correct direction why I lose the connection
repeatably?

TIA!

Does the router have the latest firmware upgrade? I have a NETGEAR
WGT624v2 router that had a similar problem until I upgraded the firmware.

Tom,

There is a new firmware release, but the posted fixes do not address this
issue. I will install and see.

Thanks

Tom,

Installed the firmware upgrade. Thought I was out of the woods, but still
lose access to my network drives on my XP Machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have the same problem... (almost). I have same router, a mobilephone with
wlan and a laptop with a Netgear wireless PC Card (WGT511T) with those two
devices I have no problem at all. It works just the way it should. BUT! Now i
got a brand new Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop. And with the FS amilio computer
I have the exact same problem. I have called the Netgear support and the
customer support where I bought my computer, no one seems to know how to fix
this. =(
