lookup.xlam is already open...

I get the following message everytime I open Excel (2007):

"LOOKUP>XLAM is already open. Reopening will cause any changes you made to
be discarded. Do you want to reopen LOOKUP.XLAM?" (Yes or NO)

How do I avoid this error message in the future. Web searches (general and
on Microsoft.com) have not come up with any helpful suggestions.

I also have this problem -- very same message. It started when I had Excel
open and had to do a power-off shutdown. Apparently this is a pretty common
problem for which Microsoft has no fix.

My next step will be to uninstall and reinstall Office.
