LOOKUP.XLAM error

I get the following message everytime I open Excel (2007):

"LOOKUP.XLAM is already open. Reopening will cause any changes you made to
be discarded. Do you want to reopen LOOKUP.XLAM?" (Yes or NO)

How do I avoid this error message in the future. Web searches (general and
on Microsoft.com) have not come up with any helpful suggestions.

"Not helpful" means what? What have you already tried that did not help?

Best wishes Harald

Not helpful = no suggestions or direction on where to try and fix this.
Seems like no one else has seen or asked for help with this problem. I'm
stumped...any ideas?

I had this issue, & solved it quickly thru the UI. No filesystem or registry hacks required.
Remove the "Lookup Wizard" addin & add it back again.

Steps:
  1. Click Excels "Window" button in upper Left corner.
  2. Click "Excel Options" button in lower right of menu.
  3. Click "Add-Ins" tab in left pane.
  4. Change Manage drowdown to "Excel Add-ins" & click Go... button.
  5. UnCheck "Lookup Wizard" addin. Click OK.
  6. Exit Excel.
If you are using the Lookup Wizard add-in, go thru the same procedure above to check it on again.

That sorted the issue out for me.
