Looking for a registry expert

S

Steven

I have two laptops, from the same manufacturer and both running xp home,
sp1. The older one gets 3megabits dl on the same connection that the older
one only gets 1.6 megabits. I want to duplicate the registry setting of the
older one, on the new one, because the older one was tweaked for speed. What
I am looking for is a list of all the registry keys that effect network
connections, so I can compare them and make changes to enhance the
performance of the newer unit.

I have posted this on other ms groups and only got links to pages full of
links and told to search for the answer there. I have spent days searching
and have not found what I need. Please, if you are a registry expert and can
tell me exactly which key to check, I would greatly appreciate a list.

Thanks In Advance

Steven

I went there and looked. I even tried a few of the things it mentioned,
until I got to a direction that was in error. I was using:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314053&Product=winxp

because I have xp and not nt or 2000. Anyway, it told me to go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\computer\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325
-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

The main problem with this is that I don't have "computer" under that key
and it also talks about "Click Add Value on the Edit menu" and I have no
such entry under the edit option on the menu. It really sucks when the
people who made this can't even give correct directions on how to edit it.
Do you have any other options for getting correct information?

Use System instead of Computer.
