Network settings

I have two laptops, both by the same manufacturer. One, was tweaked for
speed and I get 3megabits down. The other only gets about 1.6 and I want to
duplicate the settings from the fast one, on the slow one. What I need to
know is the exact registry locations for each of the setting needed to
increase the speed, so I can copy them from the fast one to the slow one. I
really appreciate the help

Thanks In Advance

Steven

Registry keys aren't the only factor. There are specific settings for the
Network Interface Card that can also impact performance. Usually,
you'll need to alter some of the DNS cache parameters, perhaps the
MTU (Maximum Transfer Unit) and Receive Window Size. There are
lots of web sites dedicated to optimizing/tweaking network performance.
Some offer tools/on-line scans to help with adjusting settings. I would
start by reading up here:

Just be aware that you may not be able to duplicate your throughput
exactly the same as the faster PC.

Look, I don't mean to be rude, but I don't want links to pages full of links
that I have to search, hoping to find what I am looking for. If someone here
can give me a list of each registry key that controls connection speeds, I
would really appreciate it. I have looked and looked on the net and cannot
find what I am looking for, so I am hoping that some expert here will
provide me with the answer I am seeking.

Thanks In Advance

Since I do not have the answer and am not going to search through the
registry for you, I hope you will not be too offended if I give you
just one link:

This is a link to the forums on DSL Reports, arguably the best resource
for all broadband (not just dsl) information. I see that they have
forums for tweaking and Microsoft help. Try posting your question there
and you'll be sure to have access to broadband experts.
