Looking for a freware program like "UltraMon"...

I've recently switched back to a dual monitor setup on my Win98
PC and I need want to have different wallpaper on each monitor.
The extra multi monitor stuff in UltraMon is nice and all, but
it doesn't justify $40us price tag.

Here's about the only freeware multi-monitor program I've ever found:

I'm in the same boat... but there's a trick that, at least, works in
Windows 2000, so it might work in Win98 too:

Stitch together the two wallpapers in some graphics program (GIMP,
PhotoFiltre, ...), so the total size equals the format of your dual
monitor setup (in my case, 864*2304 = two wallpapers of 864*1152).

Save this graphics file under C:\Windows in BMP format (Windows 98
requires this, IIRC). Choose it as your wallpaper in Control Panel >
Display, and set the "Tile" option. Normally, this should show you
the two different wallpapers on different monitors.

Hope it helps,
Wald

MultiMon (Now UltraMon) {Multi-monitor management utility} What's the
use of having another monitor attached to your PC? Beyond novelty, it
immediately doubles the size of your Desktop. Some apps aren't
multi-monitor friendly, however (especially certain screen savers).
With this add-on, you'll instantly be able to: maximize the current
window to all monitors, enable/disable your additional monitor(s),
and blacken the other screen(s) when your screen saver runs.

It doesn't seem to work on Win98... But I'll keep trying.

"This beta test has expired"
This program isn't what you're requesting anyway,
but resetting your system time to 1999 installs it
w/out a problem.

For what you want to do, I suggest

VirtualScreens: Runs as part of system shell to give you multiple
virtual desktops...move between them to decrease confusion...Space
Dolphin (the author) no longer supports it, so download it from my site.
