I have a small but irritating problem running XPSP2 - while using file
explorer whenever i r-click and select 'New...' from the context sensitve
menu (to create a new folder for instance) there is a long (10 seconds or
more) pause before the list of file types appears. It does this once, then
becomes almost instant (as it should) if i create a second new folder/file
but if i navigate to another area on the disk and 'create new' there i get
the pause again. It does this for all users and on all drives.
The system is plenty powerful enough, AMD FX-55, 2Gb ram and programs run
fine, photoshop CS for example, so i don't think there is a hardware problem.
I'm sure there's a file somewhere keeping this information that needs to be
remade or something, perhaps something i have to delete which will re-create
itself next time i logon?
It's small but highly irrating and thought someone might have an idea for a
fix?
Thanks
