Logon through a VPN connection

Hello,

We have some clients that connect to our LAN through
a VPN connection. They can see our LAN but how do i
get them to logon to the network (Active Directory) ?.

The VPN connection is a box to box connection so the VPN
connection is up and running when the client starts his
remote PC. The clients run either Windows XP or Windows 2000.
The LAN is a Windows 2000 with Active Directory.

Are there any whitepapers or guidelines for setting this
kind of connection up ?.

If it's a site to site VPN connection, not using a client on the
workstation, and the workstations belong to the domain, they should be able
to log in to the domain as they would while in your office, albeit perhaps
a bit more slowly - what kind of VPN? More info about your IP setup would
help - and are you allowing NetBIOS traffic across the VPN link?

Hello,

I'm using a SonicWall to SonicWall VPN solution.
The Office LAN is running a sub-net like this 172.16.1.0/255.255.255.0
and the Remote office is running 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0. I allow
Netbios through the VPN tunnel. I have a DNS server and WINS server on the
Office LAN.
Should i set the clients on the remote office to use these DNS and WINS
servers ?.

Thanks,

Make sure in the advanced settings of the VPN connection on each sonicwall,
to "allow netbios traffic". This will work.
