can't connect to Internet when VPN is on.

I have a Netgear WGT624 Router/Firewall and I just configured VPN on a
Windows 2000 Server and for testing purposes, I was able to connect
from a XP client computer to the VPN server on the LAN behind the
rouer/firewall. However I noticed that when the I'm connected to the
VPN from the client I can't get on the Internet. I don't think there's
a port conflict between VPN and Internet on the firewall. Is there?

When you set up a VPN, depending on the software you use, there is
usually some way of setting whether or not you want to allow access to
the Internet (or other networks) at the end of the VPN that you are
connecting to. Check your software.

What are your IP addresses, both with the VPN on and off?
The command

ipconfig /all

will tell you.
