Logon difficulties...

When logging on to a Windows XP computer in order to type the password each
letter key on the keyboard has to be held down for about 2-3 seconds before
the letter appears in the password box. (same thing is true for the user name
text box if you would need to change user name) Also, the shift and the Caps
Lock keys do not work so no capital letters can be used in a password!!!

This is only an issue when logging on. As soon as the computer is fully
booted the keyboard works normally again!?

Any ideas?

Time to change the keyboard! The keyboard is faulty. Is it possible
for you to check the keyboard on another working system?

Adde,

Check your Keyboard settings in the Control Panel. Some keyboards have
'Speed' sliders for certain keystrokes. If that doesn't work, remove the
keyboard driver in Device Manager and restart the computer, make sure your
keyboard is plugged in before you restart.

Thanks for the advice, however I did try replacing a keyboard from another
workstaion and I have uninstalled the driver and replaced with a new one.
Also there are no settings in the Keyboard properties or the Accessibility
Options set! Still the keys do not respond to the initial login!

Again the problem only exists at the initial login! If I lock the computer
with Ctrl+Alt+Del the keyboard works normal as it does once logged in.

Any other suggestions?
