i had an employee with a laptop that she used for home use. She is no longer
with my company. I tried to log on with the old administrator password but it
does not work anymore. I need to get access to the material on the harddrive.
Unfortunately i cannot ask her if she changed it. Is there anyway to bypass
this or can i create a new password or is there a program i can use to do
this. I cannot format the drive this is not an option. What can i do???

Do a search on google for John the Ripper - download it to a CD, boot
from the CD, and being careful not to screw things up, you can change
the Administrator password with that.

Don't bother with John the Ripper. Just use ntpasswd, which you can get
here:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

It's very easy to use - just be sure to read the ReadMe.

"Don't Panic!"

all you have to do is :

when you have enter a username and password
just enter Administrator in the username
and leave the password blank
there you will logon as an administrator
change the admin password
(if you dunno how to do this)

goto run type in control userpasswords
then click on the account and change the password

FINISHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
