Login Scripts

Jennie

I have created a new login script for one on our sites
and placed it on our main server i have forced AD
replication but the login script is not being copied over
to the new
server.

We are placing the scripts is:

\winnt\sysvol\domain\scripts

and there is also a copy in

\winnt\sysvol\sysvol\domain.co.uk\scripts

Is there a reason why this is not replicating?

Thanks

Jennie

Jennie,

It seems odd to me that you are putting your logon scripts into your shared
sysvol folder. Normally, logon scripts are put into your netlogon share.

The main thing that jumps out at me concerning your newsgroup post is that
your winnt\sysvol\domain\scripts folder does not replicate by default.
Maybe you accidentally mistyped the path. What should get replicated
automatically between DCs is the winnt\sysvol\sysvol folder and everything
that it contains. I

If that is what you meant, please check your FRS log in the event viewer on
your domain controllers and see if you are getting errors concerning file
replication. The errors should help us determine a direction for
troubleshooting purposes. The problem with troubleshooting file replication
problems is that there can be a great many possible causes.

One other note, you mentioned forcing AD replication to try and replicate
the login script that you put into your sysvol share. Forcing AD
replication will not force file replications. They are two separate
processes.

Please let me know what errors you are seeing in the FRS log. You might
also consider putting your logon scripts into your netlogon share and see if
they seem to replicate. The file replication engine replicates both the
sysvol and netlogon shares between DCs.

I hope this helps.
