How do you log onto XP as the administrator?

XP Home - Boot to Safe-Mode.

XP Pro - Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice at the logon screen.

How do you log onto XP as the administrator?

There is two ways, each depend how the screen looks and which version:

1) Start in "Safe Mode"

2) For Window XP Pro ONLY, with the "Welcome Screen",

<Ctrl>+>Alt> two times will bring you to a standard user login
screen.

Thank you both for your replies. It is most helpful. Anyone wondering why I
had 2 posts so close together is the other post gave me information such as
to install sp3 you have to log on as administrator and I thought it would be
better to make a new post on a different subject. Thanks again for your
input.

To boot to safe mode what key do you tap at start up?

It should be noted that some BIOSes also use F8 to enter them and if you
don't quite time it right, you end up in the BIOS rather than safe mode.
Don't worry, all you have to do is exit the BIOS (usually exit without
saving or similar) and then hit F8 as soon as you are out.
