Log in / screen saver / lock up's Issue

I am at my witts end, got a replacement cd from microsoft with sp2
formatted and installed, locks up with first mouse click after boot, no
screen saver, updated drivers and all that good stuff. Formatted several
times, same issue, I have to cont-alt-del to pick a user to log into, upon
getting to desktop, the orginal user will not have a screen saver however, i
created a new user, that does.... delete orginal user, use the new one, no
screen saver, seems only works when there are 2 accounts. Microsoft has been
no freaking help, i've been working with them for about a week.
Any suggestions at all ??????

Also...... I can't delete something off the desktop by dragging it to trash,
it doesn't go anywhere, i have to hit delete, that's a new one....... if i
don't get these issues fixed soon i'm gonna toss this damn thing out a window
!
