Installing a screen saver

I am trying to install a screen saver (davinci.scr) on a computer running XP
Home with SP 2. The screen saver is a Microsoft screen saver dated 8/10/2004
and was copied from a computer running XP Media. The screen saver is a raw
screen saver file. One copy of the file was placed in C:\\WINDOWS\system32\
and has no attributes. A second copy of the file was copied to
C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\dllcache\ and assigned a c attribute for compressed.
The attributes of the two files copied match what is shown for the other
screen savers in the respective folders.

When I try to select davinci as my screen saver, my computer beeps and will
not let me select or apply the davinci screen saver. I cannot preview it
either.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong to install the davinci screen saver?

It may require a .dll file that is not included in XP Home or is
different between the two versions of Windows, or may require other files
(maybe some pictures?).

If you open the .scr file with notepad (or some better program for
looking at binary files), and search for "dll" (without the "), you may
see the names of dll files it requires.

A .scr file is usually just an .exe file renamed. Try running the
davinci.scr from a cmd window (run cmd first, then the .scr from there)
it may display some message, or may go into its configuration screen,
either of which may give you more info.
